Prior Experience

Extensive experience in managing patent filings, prosecutions, litigations, and performing infringement and validity analyses, along with developing comprehensive IP strategies for multinational corporations.

Established and managed the patent filing processes, patent portfolios, and various IP policies at DuPont (formerly Dow) Korea R&D Center since its inception in 2011. Key policies include inventor remuneration programs and Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) clearance, among others.

Provided strategic leadership and expert advice on licensing, settlement negotiations, IP strategies, and IP agreements as the lead IP counsel for DuPont’s (formerly Dow’s) Display Technology division.

Author of “Introduction to Intellectual Property Law in Korea” (2007), published by Kim & Chang.

Successfully penetrated the OLED and Black Column Spacer markets by strategically leveraging invalidation action litigations against competitors’ patents.

Protected DuPont’s intellectual property assets and reinforced its position in the Display Materials (OLED, advanced materials, etc.) market by effectively defending opposition and cancellation petitions filed against DuPont’s patents in Europe, Japan, and Korea.

Secured a favorable outcome in a litigation concerning inventor remuneration, successfully defending against claims made by a former Dow employee seeking compensation for inventions developed during his employment.

Negotiated and executed patent settlement and licensing agreements with competitors, successfully safeguarding Dow’s Display Materials products.
